Downtown Huntsville has a variety of restaurant styles to chose from, depending on your mood. Check out some of these favorite dining options downtown in the Rocket City.
Humphrey’s Bar and Grill
When I started asking acquaintances and friends what downtown restaurants they would suggest almost everyone suggested Humphrey’s. One of the most common praises was the weekly specials at the restaurant. Sunday’s from 12pm until 2am they have “All You Can Eat Smoked Chicken Wings for $9.99. The bar aspect of the restaurant gets a lot of positive reviews as well. You should definitely check out Humphrey’s whether you’re looking for lunch, dinner, or just drinks.
Papou’s is a greek restaurant located on South Side Square. This is one of the few places that you can get authentic Mediterranean cuisine in Huntsville. They have full lunch and dinner menus as well as an extensive selection of presumably fine wines (I have no knowledge of wines or their degree of fineness). They also have a specials menu that has some pretty unique items. If you enjoy greek foods you should stop by Papou’s and check out their full menus.
Sam and Greg’s
So you’ve probably been to Sam and Greg’s before. If you’ve been in Huntsville for at least a day someone has probably told you that you should go get some of their gelato or a pizza, and I concur. Not only is their menu unique, it is a truly unique dining experience, and the environment is indicative of Huntsville, and the modern south in general. S&G’s is great because whether you want a meal or some after dinner desert they’ve got you covered.
Last, but certainly not least is Big Oh’s. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I highly recommend you try the bulgogi rolls. They are legitimately incredible. Big Oh’s, much like Sam and Greg’s, is an experience not just a restaurant. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and often joke with customers, which really adds to the whole atmosphere. Big Oh’s is honestly my favorite restaurant in Huntsville, and I can’t recommend it enough.
