Mint Julep Market Specializes in “The Art of Giving”

The Mint Julep Difference

I visited Mint Julep Market on a rainy Saturday afternoon—the perfect day for browsing their bounty of upscale gifts from local artisans. The collaborative team at Mint Julep Market works very hard to offer a unique shopping experience to their customers, and that’s just what I got. Although the market has 15 curators, each one has intimate knowledge of all the gift collections.

Mint Julep owner and mother of three, Hillary Dunham, told me, “The people we work with are experts in their field.  They bring exceptional things from all over the world back to Huntsville.  They’re a wonderful and fun group of people to work with.”

It’s fair to say that Mint Julep operates far outside the box.  In one large, open area, you can find gifts, home décor, accessories, clothing, fine stationary, and meal starters.  The merchandise is some of the best that the Rocket City has to offer, operating on good old-fashion customer service that is so dearly cherished in the south.

Hillary said, “The number one thing I love about our store is our amazing customers. Our team works together to find just what they need. We love to help you find *just* the right gift.”

If you’re anything like me, you look long and hard for that perfect gift—Something that will personally speak to your mom, best friend, your niece who will be a June bride, or your sister whose baby is due next month.  Or maybe you are the bride who is searching for special bridesmaids’ gifts. Whatever the occasion, you can trust Mint Julep, who specializes in “the Art of Giving.”  In addition, Mint Julep is well-known for their exquisite monogramming and embroidery.

“We are a gift boutique,” says Hillary.  “And we offer the greatest options in the Rocket City. We are proud to be able to bring so many treasures back to our little store so our customers can come to one place to find their favorites!”

A Lovely Shopping Experience

Once you learn that Rosie’s Cantina on South Parkway is next door, the lovely shop will be easy to find. Rebecca Cockrell was managing the store when I arrived for shopping.  She owns Lolettas, one Mint Julep’s jewelry showrooms.  Rebecca explained, “I find unique, affordable jewelry from different designers from around the world.”

Other markets are for foodies…Or, for those of us too busy to cook from scratch. Rebecca said, “Our food curator, Kristi, who operates Table & Thyme, finds the best items to cook with.  I’m not much of a cook, and she makes me look like a good one.  And it’s so easy, especially when I’m hosting.  It’s quick, easy, and everybody loves it!”

I purchased an adorable tin from the Boy Meets Girl Designs cache. “The owner of Boy Meets Girl travels all around north Alabama to find and collect her refurbished goods,” explained Rebecca.  As I said, these curators really know a lot about the entire team’s products!

Beauty and Style Meet the Golden Rule

Hillary opened Mint Julep Market in 2013.  Before taking the leap into retail storefront ownership, she said, “I thought about it, I prayed about it. We knew it was a huge leap, but we also knew we had a lot of amazing help.” You might say that Mint Julep Market was established with the Golden Rule in mind.

I saw that, first-hand, on the rainy day that I visited the store.  A delivery man came to the market’s door, a huge box in his arms. “Excuse me,” said Rebecca, who was managing the store at the time.  She quickly stepped away from the centralized cash register and opened the door for the delivery man. She didn’t have to do that. I’d say, that’s just how Mint Julep Market rolls.
