Although the Alabama Athletic Club no longer offers indoor rock climbing, there are still a couple of places to climb in Huntsville.
For south siders, there’s Up A Creek Indoor Family Adventures in Hampton Cove. Opened in 2012, Up A Creek has a 3 course rock climbing wall (as well as a mechanical surf machine!) . . . they get great reviews on Facebook, check their page for hours and party/event info.
The Little Gym of Huntsville is a kids (12 and under) playspace that Google turns up in a search for Huntsville rock climbing, but their website doesn’t indicate they have a wall, and I can’t find one in any of their Facebook pictures.
The serious looking indoor rock climbing opportunity in these parts, however, appears to be in Madison and the Insanity Complex. Insanity has a 30 ft. wall with nine courses from beginner to advanced. Test your skills on the “Summit of Champs” or the “Widow Maker”. Climb for $6 Monday through Thursday, and $8 on the weekends. You can rent climbing shoes for $2.
